What is the purpose of the Arkansas Beauty Pageant Operator Bond?

An Arkansas Beauty Pageant Operator Bond is required by the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration. The Arkansas Code states that no person shall conduct a beauty pageant in Arkansas unless registered with the Director of the Department of Finance and Administration on forms prescribed by him or her. The application form must be accompanied by the surety bond. 

The amount is set at $10,000 under Arkansas Code Section 17-21-202. This bond’s purpose is to pay out any losses caused by a failure to conduct a beauty pageant. Do take note that there are exceptions to the registration requirements. It shall not apply to any operator which has existed as an operation for at least 25 years, its affiliates, whether now or hereafter, and whose continuing primary function involves the annual organization, promotion and sponsoring of a statewide talent and beauty pageant in which contestants compete for scholarships, etc.
